Description

Ambient temperature comfortable 20°C, but 96% humidity, slight haze up there. Clouds looming to cross through my simultaneously photographed fields, wide or narrow. As this had to be expected I have purposely chosen a star cluster rather than my longed-for Thor's Helmet for the APO and the Seagull for the Sammy 135mm. Messier 46 is enriched by a tiny planetary, NGC 2438, at a distance of 1370 ly which is much closer than the cluster at some 5000 ly.

What you are seeing in the background isn't noise, it is dark matter.

Anyways, after less than an hour integration, the session was ended by rain (a blessing for my vegetables), but after all calibration frames taken. Good to have a little vinyl shed with casters to quickly cover the scope and PC. The shed's name is "Rolling Thunder".

À propos calibration, in 30 years or so, your child or grandchild will admire your patience and devotion and talk like, "just imagine, at that time my dad took darks, flats and even biases, incredible, how primitive! He even bothered calibrating his scope." For the time being, I bother you with my stone age images.
